Junior Year

Well, I am officially over half-way done with college!  It seems crazy to me how fast the time has gone!  My first week back has been okay.  I am a double major, so I am taking quite a few different classes.  I have three classes I am taking for my Radio/Television Production major and two Sociology classes.  I also have an elective class I am taking that I am really interested in.  My schedule isn't too bad since I got math, science, and history requirements out of the way during my first two years!

All of my classes are fairly interesting, and hopefully by enjoying them I will be able to do well in them.  One of the classes for my Radio/TV major is a radio broadcasting class.  Last semester I focused on the TV end of production, but this semester we are focusing on radio.  I will have a one-hour radio show on the campus station every week starting in the next couple of weeks.  I can basically talk about anything I want and play any kind of music I want.  I think it will be a fun class where I can really show my creativity.  I think it will be fun planning my own show and being on air every week.  I am looking forward to it.

My two sociology classes are actually really interesting so far.  I took a criminology class last year that I absolutely loved, and that made me want to add a second major in sociology.  I loved the class and the material fascinated me! This semester my classes are on race in society, and madness culture and power.  They should be interesting.

Anyway, I will just give you a quick update on my internship.  Things have really wound down since the fair ended.  Now, I am working on studio productions.  I have been helping with sets for shows, running camera, and working in a studio environment.  A couple of the shows I have been/will be working on are nationally syndicated, which is pretty cool.  It is neat to see how everything comes together to create a television show!

Well, that is all for now.  Be back soon! :)

Drum roll please.........

.... I finally have the time to post!!!  First on the agenda, is telling you all about my family's trip to the Wisconsin Dells!  We had a lot of fun.  We went to Noah's Ark (the world's biggest water park) where we rode a really cool water roller coaster (which was my absolute favorite ride!).  We also went on some really cool water slides there.  It was great!  We also went to a theme park called Mount Olympus.  It is a water park and theme park.  We went there two days, and had an excellent time!  We also went on the Original Wisconsin Ducks, which I am sure you've all heard of, but just in case, they are kind of like boats that can go on land and water.  They were really cool.  We also took a jet boat ride, and we got absolutely SOAKED! But it was worth it because it was so fun.  In addition to all of that, we went miniature golfing at Pirate's Cove and also stopped on our way home to see the House on the Rock.  The architecture there was amazing!  Below are a few pictures from our trip:

Next, Kaitlin and I moved to Urbandale, as most of you know.  We are preparing to start classes on the 25th.  My internship at IPTV has been going ok.  I have been working a ton of hours during the fair.  With the fair being over now, I will start only working on Thursdays and Fridays, with some Saturdays and Sundays sprinkled throughout.  The internship is for the whole fall semester, and I will be assisting with productions like Market to Market (which is a nationally syndicated show) and Iowa Journal.  I have been learning the ropes, and I will be operating camera and doing other tasks around the station.

My friend Shelley got married on 08/08/08 and it was a beautiful wedding! I am so happy for her!  She and her husband, Chris, have been great friends to Ryan and me.

I celebrated my 20th birthday on the 13th of this month.  Ryan's family had a little gathering and dinner for me, and then on Sunday, my mom, Kylie, and Colton brought me a cake.  I had a very nice birthday.

One more tidbit of information: Ryan asked me about a month ago if I would like to take a trip to the Caribbean.  After visiting a travel agent, doing a little research, and figuring out our budget, we decided on Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  It's not in the Caribbean (obviously) but we decided it was the best place for us.  We will be leaving on January 8th, and staying in Cabo for 7 nights at the Riu Palace.  I am very excited!!!

Anyway, that is all for now.  I will be back soon!

Busy, Busy!

The past few weeks have been incredibly busy.  Between moving and interning at IPTV, I haven't had much time to update my blog!  I have been working between 10 and 14 hour days at Iowa Public Television during the State Fair.  I just wanted to put a quick update on my blog.  When things start to wind down I will be back with pictures from my family's trip to the Wisconsin Dells (almost a month ago now), information on what I have been up to at IPTV, and other happenings!  Sorry I am so behind!
